AMBIGUITY OF KAMANG LANGUAGE SPOKEN BY PIDO SPEECH COMMUNITY

Abstract

This study is a qualitative descriptive research which is aimed to find out ambiguities of Kamang language spoken by Pido Speech Community. In gathering data, five informants were choosen purposively to translate list of Indonesia words and sentence into Kamang language spoken by Pido Speech Community. The result of this process shows that some words of the language have ambigues meaning in term of Phonological, Grammatical, and Lexical ambiguities. Deals with this study the writer only focusses on lexical ambiguities. Lexical ambiguities deal with a word that has two or more related meaning, which appear in the word: surat, ba, bong, beta, fa, kul, etc. The classification of ambiguities would reperesent their real meaning by fixing them with language context in sentences in order to avoid misunderstanding for the listener or reader. The writer gives some suggestions especially for the local government to provide the local resources, such as books as the means of getting knowledge in order to facilitate the process of language learning.
