Abstract

Research on porosity test-based briquette charcoal mixture of hazelnut shells and rice husk has been done. This study aims to determine the optimum ratio mix of hazelnut shell charcoal and rice husk as well as the optimum size of the hazelnut shell charcoal briquette making. Research carried out by making charcoal candlenut shells and rice husk. Candlenut shell charcoal is provided in several variations of sizes of 18 mesh, mesh 5 and . in. Charcoal shell pecans (ACK) and then mixed with rice husk (ASP) size 18 mesh with a ratio of ACK: ASP is 70: 30%, 60: 40%, 50: 50%, 40: 60%, and 30: 70%, Then test to determine the porosity of a better quality briquettes. The results showed that the briquettes ACK-ASP best with a small porosity which is 1.7% at a ratio of ACK: ASP was 70: 30% with a size of 18 mesh ACK.
